Free-range eggs are more nutritious than caged eggs, as they come from birds fed primarily grains and some insects. However, they are less nutritious than pastured eggs.
Free-range vs. industrial farming
More varied diets, such as those of free-range chickens, contain higher amounts of vitamin A, important for bone and eye health; vitamin E, which promotes circulation and prevents oxidation; and omega-3 fatty acids, which help lower cholesterol and blood pressure.
Furthermore, free-range eggs contain less saturated fat and cholesterol than factory-farmed eggs, making them better in almost every way—except perhaps price. But it’s worth the expense, don’t you think?
