  • 200 g of sodium bicarbonate
  • 50g of mustard powder
  • 50g of laundry soap (preferably bar soap, grated)
  • 5 liters of water
  • 1 large pot

Step-by-step instructions for cleaning the pot

  1. Prepare the water : Place 5 liters of water in a large pot and put it on the stove. While it’s heating up, grate the bar soap. Liquid soap will also work, but solid soap is usually more effective.
  2. Add the ingredients : When the water is very hot and almost boiling, add the baking soda, mustard powder, and grated soap. The mixture will begin to foam and react. Stir with a long-handled spoon.
  3. Boil the lid or other parts : Put the lid of the pot (or the dirtiest part) in and let it boil over medium heat for about 20 minutes.
  4. Check for cleanliness : After that time, most of the grease will have loosened. If there is still dirt in some places, boil the piece for another 10 minutes.
  5. Maximum time : Do not exceed 30-35 minutes of boiling in total, as it is unnecessary and could damage the material.
  6. Final rinse : Remove the lid with kitchen tongs and rinse it under hot water. The grease and soot will almost completely disappear.
