- 200 g of sodium bicarbonate
- 50g of mustard powder
- 50g of laundry soap (preferably bar soap, grated)
- 5 liters of water
- 1 large pot
Step-by-step instructions for cleaning the pot
- Prepare the water : Place 5 liters of water in a large pot and put it on the stove. While it’s heating up, grate the bar soap. Liquid soap will also work, but solid soap is usually more effective.
- Add the ingredients : When the water is very hot and almost boiling, add the baking soda, mustard powder, and grated soap. The mixture will begin to foam and react. Stir with a long-handled spoon.
- Boil the lid or other parts : Put the lid of the pot (or the dirtiest part) in and let it boil over medium heat for about 20 minutes.
- Check for cleanliness : After that time, most of the grease will have loosened. If there is still dirt in some places, boil the piece for another 10 minutes.
- Maximum time : Do not exceed 30-35 minutes of boiling in total, as it is unnecessary and could damage the material.
- Final rinse : Remove the lid with kitchen tongs and rinse it under hot water. The grease and soot will almost completely disappear.
