Over time, pots, pans, and skillets tend to accumulate hardened grease, burnt food residue, and a layer of grime that seems impossible to remove. Scraping these surfaces is not only exhausting, but it often doesn’t achieve the desired results.
In my case, I have a small antique cauldron, one of those we inherited from bygone eras. We use it at the country house, but since hot water isn’t always available there, cleaning it thoroughly was a complicated task. After a season of use, both the pot and its lid were covered in grease and soot.
I decided to take it home and try a simple method inspired by traditional tips. To my surprise, in just half an hour I managed to make it look almost like new. Here I share the procedure so you can do it too.
