Reusable homemade candle wick: a practical option to make better use of fuel at home.

This method allows you to reuse leftover wax and create a stronger and longer-lasting candle.

Materials

  • Steel sponge
  • Copper tube (cut at the base forming small “legs” for support)
  • Remnants of large candles
  • Frying pan
  • Medium heat-resistant glass container

Step by step

  1. Prepare the structure:
Thread the steel sponge through the copper tube. Make sure the tube has small openings or cuts at the bottom so it holds better inside the container.
  2. Melt the wax:
Place the candle remnants in a pan and melt them over low heat. It is important not to overheat the wax to avoid risks.
  3. Pour into the container:
Once liquid, carefully pour the wax into the glass container.
  4. Insert the wick:
Place the tube with the steel wool in the center of the container before the wax solidifies. Hold firmly until it begins to harden.
  5. Let cool:
Wait for the wax to harden completely. When it’s solid, your reusable candle will be ready to use.

The steel sponge acts as a conductor of the molten fuel, allowing for more consistent combustion.
